Before any tile went down, we covered the full roof deck with SecureGrip PS MAX HT 2.0 high temp synthetic underlayment. You can see the branded material in the photos where tiles have not been placed yet. This layer goes right on top of the plywood decking and works as a secondary water barrier if moisture ever gets under the tiles during a heavy Florida storm.

From there our team started staging stacks of dark brown eagle flat tiles across the roof and setting them section by section. This was a bigger roof with multiple hip lines and valleys, so every angle and cut had to be measured right. The drone shots show just how many stacks were spread out across the roof at once to keep the job moving. Each tile sits on metal battens that run horizontal across the deck, which hold the tiles in place and create a small air gap for ventilation that keeps the attic cooler during the hottest months.

A question we hear all the time from homeowners around Clermont and the Lake County area is whether a tile roof really holds up better than shingles in Florida. The short answer is yes. A properly installed tile roof can last 50 years or more. Tiles handle high winds better than standard asphalt shingles, and they do not curl or lose granules after years in the Florida sun.
